Job Opening: Publishing Editor

RMC Research Corporation, a nationally recognized and respected professional services and technical consulting firm specializing in research, evaluation, training, and technical assistance for educational and human service agencies at the federal, state, and local levels is seeking applicants to join our team located in the Tampa, Florida office. This position will develop and implement the editorial and quality assurance process for the Region 7 Comprehensive Center (R7CC). The R7CC is a federally funded project in the area of education research that produces reports, infographics, and other digital and print products for education staff at the federal, state, district, and school levels. Communication with a variety of audiences is vital for this work. We are looking for a publishing editor that can ensure all center products and communications are clear, jargon-free, attractive, and high-quality, fulfilling the center’s mission and reflecting up-to-date standards for professional communication. Experience in education is not required, but a keen interest in education is critical, as you will be working with education researchers and experts to edit and improve their writing and production. You will be successful in landing and performing this job if you can describe examples of your skills and past successes in:

  • Coordinate online or print publishing cycle and manage content areas
  • Develop a content calendar
  • Oversee content production
  • Create highly shareable content
  • Set publication standards and establish goals and expectations
  • Oversee layout (artwork, design, photography) and check content for accuracy and errors
  • Proofread, edit and improve pieces
  • Cooperate and liaise with professional and administrative staff
  • Comply with media law and ethical guidelines
  • Assign projects and monitor deadlines
  • Meet deadlines and budget requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or communication
  • Proven working experience as an Editor
  • Excellent writing/editing/proofreading skills in English
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office and InDesign, Photoshop or other publishing tools
  • Proven familiarity with SEO and social media best practices
  • Experience adhering to editorial and technical style guides (e.g., APA)
