Texas Accountability System for Educator Preparation: Work with the Texas Comprehensive Center

As mentioned in this blog post, RMC Research is supporting the American Institutes of Research work with the Texas Comprehensive center. Currently, we are engaged in drafting the accountability manual to support the Accountability System for Educator Preparation (ASEP). As part of this system, educator preparation programs are required to annually submit a number of data elements to the Texas Education Agency. These data elements support determination of accreditation status, reporting back to institutions about their performance, and providing information to consumers like potential teacher candidates or educator employers. Current rules regarding the accountability of educator preparation programs in the Texas Administrative Code can be found here, but keep an eye out for changes as the Texas Education Agency is currently considering important changes in conjunction with the State Board for Educator Certification in a continuous effort to improve the context of education by focusing on educator preparation.
