2019 – Present

Working with the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Central at Marzano Research, RMC Research is conducting a study of school and district leader workforce dynamics in three states. Using administrative data provided by the state education agencies in Colorado, Missouri, and South Dakota, the study will examine the percentage of school and district leaders in each state who remain in leadership positions in the same schools/districts, transfer to leadership positions in different schools/districts, or exit school/district leadership positions. Analyses will also examine the characteristics of principals, their schools, and their districts related to the likelihood of principals (a) moving to different schools and (b) leaving school leadership positions, rather than staying in the same schools. The study is expected to result in a nationally disseminated report.
