The Denver office of RMC Research has just begun an evaluation of Madison Metropolitan School District’s (MMSD) Advanced Learning Program. The MMSD has a strong belief that “a thriving school is one in which all students and adults are recognized for their strengths, challenged to do better, and supported to succeed.” They recognize the critical role of a continuum of support services so that all students are prepared for college, career, and community life. Advanced Learners are identified in the content areas, and for special talents in leadership, creativity, and visual and performing arts. The evaluation will involve multiple methods and collect data from many stakeholder groups including students, parents, teachers, administrators, central office, and Advanced Learning Instructional Resource Teachers. A report will be issued to district leaders at the beginning of the next calendar year.
