Fascinate Forward

In 2014, RMC created Fascinate Forward, an initiative aimed at developing city- and county-wide programs to engage and support families in building their children’s early language, vocabulary, and literacy skills through visits to museums, zoo, libraries, parks, and other cultural venues.

RMC is working in Broward County, Florida, with the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, the Children’s Services Council of Broward Literacy Coalition, and the Broward Campaign for Grade Level Reading to assist them in developing their own version of this initiative.

Hillsborough County, Florida
In Hillsborough County, Florida, RMC worked with Champions for Children and Layla’s House to launch the Explorers Club, a program piloted in Summer 2015 in Tampa’s Sulphur Springs community. Cultural partners for the Explorers Club include The Florida Aquarium, Glazer Children’s Museum, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, MOSI, Tampa Parks and Recreation, and the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative. Explorers Club Updates

  • In June 2016, an article titled, “A POWERFUL Approach to Family Engagement,” based in part on feedback from Explorers Club parents, was published in Provider’s Focus Magazine, a publication of the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County.
  • In January 2016, the Explorers Club was nominated for the WEDU PBS Be More Brilliant – Innovation Award. Champions for Children, as parent organization for the Explorers Club, was named as a finalist for the award.
  • In September 2015, the Explorers Club was featured as a Success Story by the Sulphur Springs Neighborhood of Promise.
