Washington Reading Corps Impact Evaluation

RMC Research directs the implementation and impact evaluation of Washington Reading Corps, an AmeriCorps tutoring program implemented in partnership by the Washington Office of Public Instruction, Washington Service Corps, and the Washington Employment Security Department. The Washington Reading Corps provides small group and one-on-one tutoring in foundational reading skills to struggling readers from pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade.

Alaska Learning Module-Writing

RMC Research developed the content for an online professional development module for K-5 teachers and other education staff, Improving K-5 Writing Instruction.

Essential Lens

Agency: Oregon Public Broadcasting

The Annenberg Foundation awarded Oregon Public Broadcasting a 1-year contract in fall 2013 to create Essential Lens: Analyzing Photographs Across the Curriculum. Essential Lens is a multidisciplinary resource for social science and science teachers that includes a website, videos, photographic analysis tasks, rights-cleared photo collections, photo archives, and interactive tools.

System 44 Impact Evaluations

Agency: Scholastic, Inc.

RMC Research conducted 2 randomized studies to investigate the impact of Scholastic’s System 44 reading program on the foundational reading skills of struggling readers, in particular elementary and middle school students with learning disabilities.

Alaska State Literacy Blueprint Birth to Graduation

At the request of the Alaska Comprehensive Center, RMC Research conducted a review of the Alaska State Literacy Blueprint: Birth to Graduation and the proposed Alaska English Language Arts Standards to assess the alignment between the Blueprint’s K-5 Content of Instruction guidelines and the standards students are expected to achieve as a result of that instruction.
